Travel pre and post volunteering

Volunteer abroad Fiji
Make the most of being in this incredible part of the world, and add on some travel pre or post your volunteering program.

Whilst much can be done, seen and experienced during your weekends on the volunteer programs almost all of our participants have chosen to spend a week or two either before or after the hard work is done experiencing the Yaswas as a holiday destination. Combining a holiday and volunteering is an enormously rewarding way to experience the Yasawas and the Fijian people.

There are some 29 Resorts throughout the Yasawa archipelago and Mamanuca island group, with huge diversity.

You can add any of the Awesome Adventures packages, Island Hopping Passes and Island Escapes or a Blue Lagoon Cruise to your Vinaka Fiji Volunteering program which are all available to Vinaka Fiji Volunteers at a specially reduced rate.

Arriving in Fiji
Arriving and Departing Fiji is a fun experience with our 'Vinaka Fiji' BULA FIJI WELCOME PACK and our MOCE FIJI DEPARTURE PACK. These packs make things nice and easy for you on your first and last nights in Fiji. It means you can sleep easy on the plane, knowing you've got your accommodation booked, transfers to and from the airport organised as well as transfers to/from your mainland accommodation to Denarau Marina: the gateway to the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands!

When you arrive at Nadi Airport in Fiji you need to make your way to the Awesome Adventures Check-In for transfer to your overnight accommodation prior to your joining the volunteer program on Saturday. We recommend and offer transfers to Nadi Bay Resort, and/or if you are looking for a little indulgence after a long flight the nearby Mecure Hotel.

Nadi Bay Resort is our mainland base where volunteer briefings are held. If you decide to stay at any other accommodation in Nadi you will need to arrange your own transport from the airport and on down to Port Denarau in the morning. You must also attend the Friday night welcome briefing at Nadi Bay Resort.

Volunteer Travel BriefingNADI BAY RESORT – Wailoaloa Road, Nadi +679 672 3599 (2 STAR)
A long-standing favorite with budget travellers, Nadi Bay Resort is clean and comfortable and has several courtyard areas with a great bar, restaurant and pool area. There is the option to join in the evenings social activities or find a quiet place to sip a cool drink and chat. The staff here are renowned for their friendly service and big Fiji smiles. Located in Nadi Bay, only 15 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from Port Denarau. A few minutes walk away is small retail strip including bustling restaurants and bars.
MERCURE NADI – Martintar, Nadi +679 672 2255 (3 Star)
A close-by alternative to Nadi Bay Resort, the Mecure Nadi is set within five acres of tropical gardens and again just a few minutes from the airport is the Mecure Nadi.

Whether you stay at Nadi Bay, Mercure or your own selected accommodation we recommend volunteers arrive into Fiji at least a day prior to commencing their Vinaka Fiji program so they can settle in and arrive to Port Denarau Marina on time, Saturday morning. A briefing for all volunteers take place with our volunteer coordinator on Saturday morning at Port Denarau Marina before boarding the Yasawa Flyer and travelling to the volunteer base at Barefoot Manta.

Voluntourism Fiji Islands

Saturday morning kicks off bright and early at 7.30am with a pick up by the Awesome Adventures Fiji Coaches outside Nadi Bay Resort. You are transferred from here to Port Denarau Marina in time for an 8.30am vessel departure to the Yasawas and your Vinaka Fiji Volunteer programs.

The accommodation and meals on Friday night, prior to your trip, is not included in your Vinaka Fiji Volunteer package cost. However your transfer from Nadi Bay Resort to Port Denarau, as well as the boat trip up to the volunteer programs in the Yasawas is included.

There are some fantastic options to explore the Yasawa Islands on your weekends whilst volunteering. Here there are infinite beautiful sights …. see our 'Life on the job' page for more information. You’ll most certainly learn some local Fijian language on your volunteer programs and there will be many opportunities to enjoy practicing by participating in traditional Fijian ceremonies in small Fijian Villages or in the evenings with staff at the resorts … it makes for total immersion in the Fijian way of life.

Say Bula to everyone, meet inspirational people, make lifelong friends, Love Fiji!!
